Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

It's a "mixed rubbers" format. Teams are made up of 2 men and 2 women. Each match is played on two courts and consists of a set of women's doubles and a set of mens doubles played at the same time, then a set of mixed doubles played at the same time. If tied after 4 sets, the fewest games lost settles the tie. In the unlikely event that the teams are still tied, a mixed tie-break will decide the match.

How do the rankings work?

The highest pair that can be fielded is the team level. For example, two 4.0 women playing with two 3.5 men are rated at 8.0.

What are the level categories?

6.5 and below, 7.0 to 7.5, and 8.0 and above. Subject to change depending on the entries.

How many people are you expecting?

We are planning on 150 participants

Can kids play?

This is a fun tournament. Everyone that can play match-play tennis is welcome. Our goal is to raise money for the Healing Arts program at the Zimmer Cancer Center at NHRMC.

What's the schedule?

Matches start Friday evening, the 21^st, at 5:00pm for those who are available. There will be a social from 6:30pm – 8:00pm for everyone. Play resumes at 8:00pm Friday and we expect to be finished on Saturday.

What's up with the social?

Katy's is providing the food. Jackson's is providing the beverages. We have prizes, a silent auction and a few words will be spoken by our beneficiaries.

How much is it?

$25 per person, $100 per team. All entries are tax deductible. You are always welcome to donate more.

How do I sign up?

Go to the website: www.betsylewistennis.com and click on the register here link. Print the registration form, fill it out and mail it in with your check. Applications are also available at the local tennis clubs and at some retailers. You can also drop off your application at the desk at Holly Tree Racquet Club.

What's the deadline for signing up?

All applications must be received by November 14^th. Schedules will be posted on the website and at Holly Tree on Wednesday before the tournament.

What is I don't have a partner (full team)?

We'll help you find people to play with and make sure you have a team. Just sign-up alone.

Can I play on more than one level?

Yes. Please make a note on your registration, and we'll try to accomodate you.

What if I can't be there Friday?

Write special requests on the application and we'll do our best to accommodate.
